The International Year of the Tiger Foundation is a Victoria-based, non-profit organization working to prevent the extinction of the world's wild tigers and other endangered species. Its present focus is on India and the Russian Far East.

The foundation's mandate is to work through educational means for the preservation of the wild tiger in its habitat.

IYTF advocates the full implementation of CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.

IYTF was created in 1996 by its president, Cecilie Davidson, with the support of a dozen or so individuals. IYTF has gained the support of local activists as well as world-renowned individuals such as Li Xing-Bai, China's distinguished artist and scholar. He and several local artists have donated their works to IYTF to help generate funds in support of IYTF's efforts.

IYTF is staffed entirely by volunteers. All funds collected go toward the purchase of communications equipment, binoculars and other basic necessities destined to park rangers, wardens and volunteer anti-poaching patrols in India, or to the Amba Patrol in Siberia. They are in desperate need of our support.
