Ashok Kumar was Vice-President of
the Wildlife Protection Society of India until 2001. He worked tirelessly on behalf
of tigers.
A former director of Traffic-India,
he was instrumental in the largest-ever seizure of tiger bones,
almost 500 kg of them from up to 50 tigers in 1993.
Mr.
Kumar is presently a Trustee and Senior Advisor of the Wildlife Trust of
India, an organization committed to urgent action and crisis management to
prevent the destruction of India's wildlife.
